The spirit of Dominic and Catherine is alive in the young sisters of the Dominican Missionary Sisters of the Sacred Heart of Jesus in Zambia.

The friars sponsored a meeting of the Dominican Family in the region in January which was well attended by almost all of the Dominican entities. Some of the groups had not gotten to know each other before, so there was time for introductions and reports on how their congregations were doing. There was also a day full of presentations and discussions about inculturation and mission. On the last day, the group joined in the celebration of the final profession of two of the friars and the renewal of vows of one other.

The problems for collaboration in the region center on the difficulty in communication and the isolation of communities and also because there are few congregations in the zone. This is alleviated somewhat by the advent of email and the presence of friars in Nairobi.
