The Institute of Preaching hosted the 15th annual convention of the Catholic Biblical Association of the Philippines (CBAP) last 19 July 2014. The theme of this year’s convention, “Blessed are the poor… “ (Matt 5:3),  showcased several distinguished bible scholars who eruditely shared their papers.

Scholars like:

Sr. Helen Graham, MM (“But You Are The God Of The Lowly, Helper Of The Oppressed…” God In The Prayer Of Judith),

Sr. Anicia Co, RVM (“Luke’s Good News To The Poor. Ambiguities And Challenges”),

Fr. Randolf Flores, SVD (“The Rich And The Poor In The Traditional Wisdom Literature”),

Sr. Gemma Victorino, PDDM (“Pauline Variations On The Theme 'Woman”),

Sr. Miriam Alejandrino, OSB (“The Poor In Prophetic Texts”).

This is the second straight year that the Institute is hosting the CBAP convention, thanks to Fr. Clarence C. Marquez, OP, Director of the Institute of Preaching, and Treasurer of the Board of Trustees of CBAP, who chaired the organizing committee.

More than 80 participants – priests, religious sisters and brothers, lay people, including several of our Dominican student-brothers attended the day-long convention.
