In the context of the three-yearly regional meeting, on 19 and 20 December 2018, the IAOP Commission for Intellectual Life met in Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire. It is composed by the regents of studies of the entities of the Africa region, as well as the AIOP counsellor for intellectual life and the socius of the M.O. for the intellectual life. The following topics were discussed at the meeting: beginning of an academic publication of AIOP, collaboration between entities, planning for the preparation of brothers for teaching and research in our centers of study. Likewise, it was agreed to update the database on brothers with academic qualifications and carrying out complementary studies. Finally, a further step was taken towards the establishment of an institute dedicated to intercultural and interreligious dialogue in Africa, in accordance with the commission of the General Chapter of Bologna, n. 186. This proposal has been transmitted to the M.O. for approval as far as possible before the next General Chapter. We worked in a very good fraternal atmosphere, and we are very grateful for the hospitality of the community of the Convent of Saint Dominique of Abidjan which welcomed us during these days.
