NEW VICAR PROVINCIAL FOR THE VICARIATE OF ANGOLA


Brother Júlio Gonçalves Candeeiro, 45, was born in Lobito, Benguela Province (Angola). He made his first profession in the Republic of Benin on 23 September 2000. In 2003 he completed his Bachelor of Theology degree at the Catholic University of West Africa (UCAO) in Abidjan, Republic of Ivory Coast. He made his solemn profession on 08 August 2003 in the Community of Saint Albert the Great (Viana-Angola). He was ordained a priest on January 16, 2005.

Brother Júlio holds a degree in Sociology from the University of Kwazulu-Natal in South Africa where he was also responsible for the postulants. He was Superior of the Santo Alberto the Great Community (Viana); Master of Students; And in 2018, he became the first Prior of the São Tomás de Aquino Convent in Luanda.

He is General Manager of Mosaiko | Institute for Citizenship; and Spiritual Assistant of ACGD - Christian Association of Managers and Directors, named to these positions by CEAST (Episcopal Conference of Angola and São Tomé).

On November 26, 2018, he was elected Vicar Provincial of the Vicariate of Angola for the next four years.
