3rd Annual Conference on Preaching in the Philippines, April 24-26, 2015,

The Institute of Preaching, under the aegis of the Dominican Province of the Philippines, spearheaded the Dominican Family’s 3rd Annual Conference on Preaching, PRAEDICARE, with the theme adapted from the Jubilee celebrations of the Order, “Sent to Preach the Gospel,” last April 24-26, 2015, at the Holy Rosary Prayer and Reflection Center, Molo, Iloilo City, Philippines.

This year’s conference included inspired preaching;

Day 1 - Rev. Fr. Joenick Territorio, JCD, Chancellor of the Archdiocese of Jaro, represented and delivered the keynote-homily on behalf of His Excellency, Most Rev. Angel Lagdameo, DD, Archbishop of Jaro, heart-tugging testimonials from Ang Dios Gugma, a local lay-led Catholic prayer group, and Bro. Stephen Nellas, on “Preaching the ‘Feast’ way,”  a renowned Catholic Charismatic Renewal Movement.

Day 2 - Rev. Fr. Paul Reagan Talavera, OP, Assoc. Prof. Cristina M. Castro-Cabral, PhD shared on “Lay Woman Teaching as Preaching,” Rev. Fr. Filemon Dela Cruz, OP, spoke on “the Spirituality of the Preacher,” and Pastor Cesar Bordalba, Jr., from the Victory Christian Church.

Day 3 - Rev. Fr. Gerard Francisco Timoner, OP, Prior Provincial, “Preaching Show-and-Tell” from the faculty and students of the Institute of Preaching, and Rev. Fr. Enrico Gonzales, OP, who capped the event with “A Theology of Preaching.”

The conference was attended by around one hundred and fifty (150) participants - Dominican fathers and brothers, sisters, lay people, young people; also, by seminarians from different dioceses on Panay Island, and various lay groups from parishes, schools, communities and institutions.

The Praedicare conferences have been to Luzon (in 2013), Mindanao (in 2014) and the Visayas (this 2015) as part of the celebration of the Order’s Jubilee and our efforts to promote the renewal of preaching, in the Dominican way.
