On the feast of its patroness, 29 April 2018, the Dominican Priestly Fraternity of St. Catherine of Siena was formally erected in the Province of Switzerland. On the same occasion, the Prior Provincial, fr. Guido Vergauwen OP, welcomed at the end of their novitiate, the first three members who made profession in the fraternities: Nicolas Tousch of the Archdiocese of Strasbourg (F); Jacques Papaux of the Diocese of Lausanne, Geneva and Fribourg (CH); and Lionel Girard of the Diocese of Sion (CH).

The three priests made their promise in the Priestly Fraternities of St. Dominic during the solemn celebration of the Evening Prayers, which was preceded by a time of Eucharistic adoration at the convent St. Hyacinth in Fribourg, together with the friars' community and their Prior, fr. Jean-Michel Poffet, OP.

Earlier during the day, the Prior Provincial engaged the novices in an edifying conference on the Dominican spirituality: "Now associated with the mission of the Order to praise, bless and preach, this commitment will characterize their diocesan ministry. Drawing from them effective spiritual support on the path of their sanctification and sharing their pastoral concerns, they are careful to account for the expectations of the people of God so that the Dominican family offers adjusted proposals."
