Reception into the Novitiate and Simple Profession St Dominic Priory, Cotonou

On 7 and 8 September 2015, at the priory of Saint Dominic, Cotonou, Benin Republic, Vice-Province of St. Augustine in West Africa, the Order of Preachers increased with the simple profession of five brothers and the reception of eight young men into the novitiate.

During the Vespers of September 7, eight pre-novices entered into the novitiate to begin their initiation into Dominican life. They are brothers Augustin KLOMEGAN from Togo, Paul-Auguste KPAI, Victor ADAYE and Paterne Boris ATSE from Ivory Coast, Elisée SOME from Burkina Faso, Franck KPENDE, Eude Japhet LABINTAN and Rodrigue GANFLE from Benin Republic; all of them belonging to the Vice-Province of St. Augustine in West Africa (VIPAO).

After the presentation of the candidates, Brother Gilles SOGLO, prior of the convent invited them to the tireless meditation on the Word of God, which will enable them to encounter God and listen to Him. Finally, he commended them to be natural.

The next day, September 8, the day of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary, was celebrated with the simple profession of five brothers in the Order of Preachers, still at the priory of Cotonou. They are brothers: Franck Martial AHOUADA, Damien ASSOGBA, Theodore AZIABA, Marius TANOH and Marcelin ETTIEN. The Eucharist was presided over by Brother Gilles SOGLO. There were other concelebrates including; Brother Benjamin Sombel SARR, the Socius of the Prior Vice-Provincial of VIPAO, brother Alain Francis NGOMBE, from Saint Martin de Porrès House, Brazzaville, Republic of Congo (Provincial Vicariate of Equatorial Africa) who preached the retreat of the newly professed, and father Gaetano MONTRESOR, a Combonian priest.

In his homily, Brother Gilles SOGLO first invited the candidates who have voluntarily left everything to follow the Lord to always mediate on the Word of God. Then he wished them good luck in their religious training. After the Eucharistic celebration, a light reception was organized.
