Regents of Studies of Asia-Pacific Region met at UST

On 7 – 9 February 2017, the meeting of the Regents of Studies from the Asia-Pacific Region was held at the University of Santo Tomas (UST), Manila. Fr. Michael Mascari, the Socius of the Master for Intellectual Life, presided at the three-day gathering.

The desire for collaboration among the provinces in the region was clearly manifested by the active participation of the following regents:

Fr. John Kim - Our Lady of the Rosary Province
Fr. Joseph Phan Than Thanh - Queen of Martyrs Province
Fr. Jannel Abogado - Province of the Philippines
Fr. George Kumblumootil - Province of India
and Fr. James Channan - Vice Province of Pakistan
 
Fr. Mascari discussed the approved English Text of the Ratio Studiorum Generalis (RSG) and asked the regents to appropriate the highlights of RSG in their respective Ratio Studiorum Particularis. The regents were all challenged to animate the intellectual formation, mission and life of their provinces.
 
The three-day meeting was capped by the election of Fr. Abogado as the new Coordinator for the Regents of Studies in Asia-Pacific Region and a member of the Order’s Permanent Commission for the Promotion of Studies. He would organize meetings of the Regents from the region and assist the Socius for Intellectual Life in his work. His term of office would last for six years.
