The Rosary is a treasure that has survived through centuries of history of the Order of Preachers. It can be compared to a diamond that sparkles in its many facets. A diamond is a very old stone, but we always discover new reflections from it. It is the same for the Rosary.
Tradition says that Saint Dominic received it from the hands of Our Lady herself. This prayer, whose development was slow until it was finally fixed by the holy Dominican Pope Pius V in the sixteenth century, is a summary of the Gospel, meditated upon with Mary.
The world of the Rosary has many different aspects:
Many pilgrimages are organized in honor of Our Lady of the Rosary. They attract crowds of pilgrims in large shrines such as Lourdes, Fatima, Chiquinquirá, Manaoag and so many others...
Movements and associations
Founded in the fifteenth century by Blessed Alanus de Rupe, the Confraternities have developed all over the world. Their members pray the Rosary in churches.
Since 1960, the Rosary Teams, founded in France, have been proposing to live the Gospel with Mary, in small teams of missionaries who meet at home. They have experienced strong international growth in the last few years.
There are countless books on the Rosary and regular publications. Many Dominican Provinces have their own magazines or newsletters.
New forms of preaching
On the internet, websites, blogs and social networks are also a way of spreading this devotion. There is an official website for the whole Dominican Order, www.rosarium.op.org, updated daily, in which there are over 1,500 documents on the Rosary in 50 languages
The motto of that site is: "Pray, preach, live ... the Rosary!" This is a great program to go to Jesus through Mary!
