Solemn Profession and Solemnity of St. Dominic at Ibadan Community

As the Lord was transfigured on the mountain, so it was for seven of our brothers who made solemn profession of vows in the Dominican House of Studies, Ibadan. The brothers: Samuel Akalite, Raphael Amoah, Anthony Hamidu, Francis Chiadi, Micheal Chilokoa, Emmanuel Ohayi, and Peter Onwe, who are all in their theological formation, were advised by the Provincial, Bro. Charles Ukwe to remain steadfast to the ideals of St. Dominic and be committed to the vision of the universal Church. The Province is most grateful to God for adding to the band of preachers poised to setting the world ablaze.

Two days after this great feast, the priory of St. Thomas Aquinas, Ibadan also celebrated the Solemnity of our Father Dominic in grand style. Remaining true to the Dominican tradition, the Mass was presided over by a Capuchin Friar, Fr. Fidelis Pabor OFM. Most of the arms of the Dominican family were well represented, including the Dominican Sisters of St. Catherin of Siena, Lay Dominicans of Vincent Ferrer Fraternity, Dominican Young Hearts, Friends of Dominicans, and St. Dominic Society. Our Augustinian brothers and Carmelite brothers were also there to rejoice with us. It was really a great moment to relish the memories of early friars who, burning with love of the Gospel and compassion for sinners, preached in and out of season for conversion of sinners.
