As if arising from a tree planted beside living fountains, the branches of the Dominican family are numerous: friars, nuns, sisters of apostolic life, members of secular institutes, priestly fraternities and laity who belong to fraternities or new groups [like the Dominican Youth Movement] accepted by the Order. All participate in the charism of St. Dominic - that the Word of God is prayed in common, studied in common and, above all, preached in common. The Dominican Family finds its source and sign of unity in the Master of the Order, successor of St. Dominic, who guarantees incorporation into the family and promotes fidelity to the spirit of St. Dominic.Relevant sources:
