elcome ! That is the first word which I would like to
say to you who visit this Internet site, either by chance
or because you already are a member of "the Family".
Yes, welcome to all of you who seek information on the
great figures of our Order all through its long history;
on the actions that we carry out today in the name of
Justice and Peace, Human
Rights; echoes of the last General
Chapter, or our paramount task - the proclamation
of the Gospel.
We
are already an old and venerable religious family, eight
centuries is indeed an impressive number of years ! But
its development and evolution is a never ending process.
In the beginning there where the cloistered nuns and the
friars (13th century), the laity (13th century) was quickly
added, then the apostolic sisters (as from the 17th century),
the secular institutes (20th century) and recently two
more initiatives : Dominican
Youth Movement and Dominican
Volunteers International.
You
will find details on each one of these branches or useful
links on our website, but the best thing still is to meet
brothers, sisters and lay Dominicans in their day to day
lives.
Our
theological tradition, the richness of our spiritual authors,
the variety of means by which we lived the charism of
preaching during centuries, the creativity and the generosity
of so many apostolic initiatives, all that can be expressed
or captured through a quotation, an image or a document.
Some aspets of our Order, just like the Gospel that we
want to live, can be met in the Cyberspace, but it will
always be better to experience them in real life.
