The 2024 Meeting of Young Dominicans took place from Octuber 25th to 27th, organized by the Dominican Sisters of the Holy Name of Jesus in the province of Tucumán at the Yerba Buena campus of Santa Rosa School. The event brought together 400 young people from the Congregation’s schools in Rosario, Hersilia, Santa Fe, Buenos Aires, Santiago del Estero, Monteros, and Tucumán, and was held in commemoration of the centennial of Fr. Ángel María Boisdron’s passing, OP, the founder of the Congregation.
The Gharo Mission is but one example of Lay Dominican-led ministerial initiatives making a concrete difference for otherwise marginalized communities, and an example of what becomes possible when Lay Fraternities, DYM groups, friars and other branches of the Dominican Family collaborate on pastoral projects.
On November 7, the feast of all saints of the Order of Preachers is celebrated. For this reason, the month of November is dedicated to raising funds to support the work on the various causes for the canonization of saints within the Dominican Family.
On October 13, 2024, at the Holy Rosary Convent in Warispura, Faisalabad, Pakistan, the National Convention of the Dominican Laity was held, entitled ‘The Role of Lay Dominicans in Preaching the Gospel in Pakistan’. It was attended by nearly 150 lay Dominicans from all over the country, coming from Karachi, Bahawalpur, Sahiwal, Jahang Ibn-e-Mariam Colony in Warispura and Dasua. The Dominican Sisters of St. Catherine of Siena and the Dominican Sisters of Malta also participated.
From 18 September to 2 October, the Master of the Order Bro Gerard Francisco Timoner III, OP, visited the province of Hispania, accompanied by his socii Br. Pablo Sicouly, OP, Br. Juan Manuel Hernandez, OP, and Br. Pavel Syssoev, OP.

Archbishop Jean-Paul Vesco, OP, Archbishop of Algiers (Algeria), Archbishop Francis Leo, Archbishop of Toronto (Canada) and Brother Timothy Radcliffe, OP, are among the 21 new Cardinals to be created by Pope Francis at the Consistory to be held on 8 December. The Pope made the announcement on Sunday 6 October, after praying the Angelus with the faithful and pilgrims present in St Peter’s Square.
The annual Meeting of the International Commission of the Nuns of the Order of Preachers (CIMOP) 2024 took place 10 to 18 September at the Monastery of Our Lady of the Assumption in Estavayer-le-Lac, Fribourg, Switzerland. CIMOP brings together the Federal Presidents of the federations and associations of the nuns the Order.
From August 10 to 18, 2024, Brother Cristobal Torres, OP, Promoter General for the Dominican Laity, visited the fraternities of the Province of St. Albert the Great in the United States, accompanied by Brother John Steilberg, OP, Provincial Promoter of the Laity.
On 8 September 2024, in Rome, on the occasion of the solemn celebrations in honour of St. John Macias for the 50th anniversary of his canonisation, the Apostolic Penitentiary has granted the Plenary Indulgence.
