The General Curia of the Order of Preachers has renewed Informatio Dominicana Internationalis — IDI — the official monthly newsletter of the Order.
The redesigned email newsletter will ordinarily be published on the first day of each month. By way of exception, the renewed issue is being sent on the Solemnity of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, a fitting occasion to recall that the communion and mission of the Order flow from the love of Christ.
IDI is intended as a monthly service to the whole Dominican Family, offering a clear and accessible way to follow the life, preaching, and mission of the Order throughout the world. Each issue will gather official communications from the General Curia, news from the life of the Order, reflections and articles on preaching and mission, highlights from the monthly calendar, selected media items and more.
The first renewed issue
The renewed June issue opens with the Master of the Order’s Pentecost letter, “Fishers and Shepherds,” in which fr. Gerard Francisco Timoner III, OP, calls the Dominican Family to renewed evangelization, deeper pastoral care, and common discernment as the Church prepares for the Jubilee of the Redemption and Pentecost 2033. Don’t miss the beautiful responses included along with the letter from brothers and sisters from all over the world.
The issue also includes news of the updated website of the Order, recent elections of priors provincial, the posthumous honorary doctorate awarded by the University of Salamanca to Francisco de Vitoria, OP, reflections from the Dominican nuns in Havana, the naming of fr. Vivian Boland, OP, as Master of Sacred Theology, and reports from recent gatherings and apostolic initiatives.
A new feature of IDI is the inclusion of the Pope’s monthly prayer intention. This is not simply an additional item of interest. Praying with the Holy Father is a concrete way for the Order to deepen its communion with the universal Church. By taking up the Pope’s intention together each month, Dominicans throughout the world are invited to unite their prayer, preaching, and mission with the needs of the Church and the world.
Another feature of IDI is the inclusion of news stories from around the world, in addition to those articles which the Media Office prepares. The quality of news items in IDI will largely depend on what is shared with the Media Office, since we have very modest means. Please do not hesitate to use this form to submit news articles that feature brothers or projects of the Order to be included among the items in the newsletter.
