Liturgical Calendar

Calendaria propria Ordinis Praedicatorum

The Liturgical Calendar of the Order of Preachers guides the celebration of the saints, blesseds and commemorations proper to the Dominican family. It helps unite the Order throughout the world in a common rhythm of prayer, honoring those men and women whose lives bear witness to the grace of preaching, contemplation, study and apostolic service.

The current Calendar came into force throughout the whole Order on the First Sunday of Advent, November 30, 2019. Alongside the Calendar itself, the Order also provides a list of Dominican saints and blesseds who may be celebrated according to the liturgical rubrics, especially in votive celebrations and in the particular calendars of provinces, monasteries, federations and congregations.

In this way, the Calendar serves both unity and local expression. It preserves the common liturgical memory of the Order while allowing particular communities to honor those saints and blesseds especially connected to their history, mission and place within the Dominican family.
