Solidarity with the Dominican Family in India
Rome, 6 December 2019.
To turn on a light for peace, that is the gesture made by the brothers of the convent of Santa Sabina. The Master of the Order, brother Gérard TIMONER, OP. fr. Alain Arnould, O.P., and the General Promoter of Justice and Peace, fr. Michael Deeb, O.P., lit the candles of the labyrinth installed in the basilica of Santa Sabina.
Fr. Raj Mannes AMIRTHA, O.P., the new Socius for Asia and the Pacific, from the Province of India, also lit a candle and walked through the labyrinth in search of peace. In addition, in collaboration with the General Promoter of Justice and Peace, they explained to pilgrims and tourists the meaning of this symbol. Several brothers will do the same, on the second and third Saturdays and Sundays of Advent, there will be days of prayer in the labyrinth in the Basilica of Santa Sabina.
The meaning of the labyrinth of peace is prayer. It is dedicated to strengthening integral peace, with itself and with others. The way of walking around it is: walking in silence, looking for the right path to reach the goal. When you reach the goal, you can light the candle, pray, write a prayer or intentions, which will be placed in a mailbox. If the person wishes, he or she can turn on the light of the people waiting to live this experience.
The convent of Santa Sabina also organizes other activities:
- Sunday, December 15 at 11:00 am: Mass for India.
- Tuesday 17 December at 5.30 pm: presentation of the situation in India by fr. Raj (Library Reading Room). Then we will pray the rosary, vespers reading office in the basilica.
Thus, solidarity with the Dominican Family in India is present, every day in prayer, in the experience of Advent that awaits the King of Peace, Jesus Christ.
