The International Dominican Youth Movement (IDYM) is delighted to announce that its next International Elective Assembly will take place in Santiago, Chile, from August 9-15, 2026.
This will be the first global in-person gathering since Lisbon 2023, when young Dominicans celebrated both the centenary of Bl. Pier Giorgio Frassati’s entrance into the Order and the thirtieth anniversary of the movement. Santiago will be a new moment to pray together, share friendship, and renew the fire of the Dominican mission.
The assembly will open on Sunday, August 9, with Vespers and a welcome event. After several days of prayer and reflection the Elective Assembly will begin mid-week and conclude on Saturday, August 15.
Members of the Dominican Family are warmly invited to join as observers. Regional consultations and preparatory meetings will take place in the months ahead so that every young Dominican — wherever they are — can help shape the conversation.
The International Commission entrusts the road to Santiago to St. Dominic and Bl. Pier Giorgio Frassati, and looks forward to welcoming the IDYM family once again with joy.
