The friars of the Province of St Joseph the Worker, Nigeria and Ghana began their 5th Provincial Chapter on the 3rd of September 2013. The capitulars have re-elected fr Charles Emeka Ukwe as their Prior Provincial. The election was confirmed by fr Bruno Cador and fr Charles accepted the election.
Fr Charles, who is from the Eastern part of Nigeria, entered the Order and made his first religious profession in 1982. He was ordained to the priesthood in 1989. He studied Canon Law and he is an expert on Marriage Tribunals.
He has worked in various pastoral capacities and was the Pastor of St Paul Catholic Church, Oyigbo, Rivers State. As a Canon Lawyer, he has worked in the Marriage Tribunals of the Archdioceses of Lagos and Ibadan (both in Nigeria) and some dioceses in the USA. He is also a professor of Canon Law at the Dominican Institute, Ibadan.
Fr Charles was elected for his first term in 2009, we wish him the best in his second term.
