Fr Francolino José Gonçalves, OP (1943 – 2017)

Francolino Jos Gonalves, op, a professor of the Old Testament at Ecole Biblique in Jerusalem passed on to eternal glory on 15 June 2017 at the age of 74 years.
His funeral will take place at the Saint-Etienne convent, Jerusalem on Saturday, June 17 at 11:30 am
He is a son of the Province of Portugal. Born on 28 March 1943 in Corujas, Macedo de Cavaleiros (Portugal). He made his first profession in the Order in 1960 and was ordained to the priesthood in 1968. He is a specialist in Biblical prophecy and prophetic literature and the Old Testament yahvisms.

1969-75 French Biblical and Archaeological School, Jerusalem. Fellow of the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation (1970-75): Full-time student (1970) and Graduate student (1971).
1970-1971 Pontifical Biblical Commission: Baccalaurat (1970) and Bachelors degree (1971) in Biblical sciences.
1980-1985 Orientalist Institute, Catholic University of Louvain, Louvain-la-Neuve (Belgium): Bachelor (1981) and Doctorate in Eastern philology and history (1986).
1987 Universidade de Lisboa, Lisbon (Portugal): Doctorate in History of Antiquity.
