The Dominican friars will celebrate their General Chapter of Definitors in Tultenango, Mexico, from 16 July to 8 August 2022.
The graphic representation designed to accompany the activities of the General Chapter Tultenango 2022, aims to highlight the term ”origin” in two aspects:
- The idea is to represent the beginning and development of the Dominican Friars, through the integration of St. Dominic of Caleruega (their founder) with the cross on the shield as a symbol of development.
- Origin as provenance. We have incorporated Mexican motifs to personalise the graphics of this edition, taking up elements of the Piedra del Sol.
- Saint Dominic of Caleruega: founder of the Order of Preachers
- Pre-Hispanic motifs: from the Piedra del Sol (Aztec Sun Stone)
- Pre-Hispanic Greca: the triangles symbolise stability (pyramid) and because they are the origin of the arrow, they also represent direction.
- The circles have many interpretations. In our case their outline symbolizes continuity.
