Fourth International Congress on the History of the Order in America and First Meeting of American Dominican Archivists to take place in Mendoza, Argentina, 2025
The Fourth International Congress on the History of the Order of Preachers in America and the First Meeting of Dominican Archivists in America will take place in Mendoza, Argentina, from the 28th to the 30th of May 2025. The goals of the gathering are to deepen the study of Dominican history and to inform participants of the Dominican archives present in the Americas.
In continuity with the previous editions in Mexico in 2013, Bogotá in 2016, and Providence-USA in 2019, the FourthCongress on the History of the Order of Preachers in America seeks “to deepen the study of Dominican history, providing opportunities for exchange, reflection and debate among researchers dedicated to the study of the history of the Order of Preachers in the Americas”, reports the Organising Committee. The committee emphasizes that it is also hopes that this academic event will provide an opportunity to inform participants of “the advances in historical studies taking place indifferent regions of the continent and from various theoretical perspectives”.
“Since the archives of the Order of Preachers in America are the fundamental repositories for the recovery of Dominican historical memory, the First Meeting of Archivists will offer a way to make known the existing Dominican archives in the American continent, to present the state of conservation and cataloguing of these archives and to exchange organisational experiences with the goal of making known the existing collections and encourage access to be given to documents conserved if various locations,” explains the organising committee.

Submission of abstracts and papers
Deadline for submission: 15 September 2024, with a minimum of 250 and a maximum of 400 words (on the pre-registration form).
Acceptance of abstracts: Friday 1 October 2024.
Submission of papers: Due 15 March 2025. Sent to: congresoop25@gmail.com
Papers must be submitted in Word format, with a maximum length of 40,000 characters, in Times New Roman, size 12, 1.5 line spacing. Footnotes, in the same font and size 10, numbered, must comply with APA guidelines.
Oral presentations will be twenty minutes. Text should be 8-9 pages in length.
Fees and form of payment for both speakers and attendees will be published in March 2025. Information on Congress venues, accommodation and cultural activities will be provided by the organising committee at a later date.
