General Chapter of Diffinitors
Tenth day
Tultenango, July 25, 2022
As we well know, Tultenango hosts the Definitory Capitulars in charge of defining the mission of the Order in the coming years. Today, especially, from lauds and the Eucharist, we prayed and congratulated the Province of Santiago de Mexico on the feast of its patron saint, Saint James the Apostle. On the occasion of this feast, Friar Luis Javier Rubio Guerrero, OP, Prior Provincial of the Province of Mexico, wrote a letter to congratulate the friars of that Province.
Among other things, Friar Luis mentioned the following in his letter: “Santiago was a true ‘witness of the Lord’. I think, then, that in contemplating the figure of this great man, all of us, as members of this Province entrusted to him, are also called to give witness to the presence of the Risen Lord in the midst of our world, so that in the midst of the realities that challenge and confront us, we may be able to present that Jesus who continues to nourish our preaching in favor of the Kingdom of God inaugurated by Him”.
In addition to this, Friar Luis continued, “with regard to the General Chapter that is taking place in our Province, I wish to congratulate all the friars who are collaborating in it, but also all those who are in our communities making a double effort, so that all of us who are in Tultenango can help in an effective way to its proper development”.
The commissions have presented their proposals during the plenary sessions of this day. What should the Order of Preachers do regarding preaching, communion, mission and economy? These are some of the topics that the capitulars reflected on during the course of the days, whose conclusions, after being approved, can be read in the Acts of the General Chapter of Definitors, Tultenango, Mexico.
At the end of the plenary sessions of this day, the capitulars discussed the main ideas to be expressed in the Prologue of the Acts of this Chapter, which will soon be written by the friars commissioned for this purpose.
