Present and Future of the Cooperator Brothers in Latin America and the Caribbean
From 29 May to 2 June 2023, the Meeting of the Cooperator Brothers of the Order of Preachers in Latin America and the Caribbean was held in the convent of San Luis Beltrán, Agua Viva, in Amecameca, Mexico.
This meeting was promoted by CIDALC (Interprovincial Conference of the Dominicans of Latin America and the Caribbean). In this region, the Order has twenty-five cooperator brothers. The meeting was attended by friars from Brazil, Venezuela, Peru and the host country, Mexico.
The friars concentrated their reflections on two themes:
- The contributions of the last General Chapters to the identity, life and mission of the co-operator brothers in the Order, with a particular vocation to preach.
- The identity and mission proper to this vocation. They also discussed ways and means of promoting this vocation in the provinces of Latin America and the Caribbean.
At the end of this meeting, the friars elected a commission and drew up a work plan to achieve the collaboration of the region in the vocational promotion of the co-operator brothers.
Let us ask the Lord, through the intercession of St. Dominic, to bless our Cooperator Brothers and to continue to call people to this specific vocation in the Dominican Family.
