Mi casa es tu casa en México
Fray Luis Javier Rubio Guerrero, OP

“My house is your house” “Mi casa es tu casa…” In Mexico we say to our friends when they visit us in our home, “Welcome to your home,” with the sole purpose of making them feel comfortable and at ease. And if “something” distinguishes Mexicans, it is their hospitality. For us, receiving a visitor is a gift and a blessing from God.

It is precisely in this spirit that we want to receive each one of the sisters and brothers who will attend our General Chapter, “Tultenango 2022.” For this very reason we are preparing ourselves in the best way to welcome you with pleasure and to have all the necessary elements so that the days you spend among us will facilitate your work during this great meeting.

The place where you will reside during the days of the Chapter is an old colonial hacienda located five kilometers from El Oro de Hidalgo, which is the most populated town in the area. The atmosphere is crystal clear and the sky is blue. It is wonderful to contemplate the unparalleled landscape where the view is lost between wooded mountains and gentle hills. In this place you will find silence and an environment conducive to rest, reflection and decision making. The community was founded in 1952 and it is here that the restoration of the Province of Santiago de Mexico began with the founding of the Apostolic School. For some years now it has served as a retreat and spirituality center for groups and individuals who desire a profound encounter with God.

On the other hand, the spiritual figure of our father St. Dominic portrayed by Blessed Jordan of Saxony in the following lines: “During the day, no one more accessible and affable than he in his dealings with the friars and companions. At night, no one so assiduous in vigils and prayer,” will inspire our attitude as your hosts.

Thus, in this geographical but above all spiritual setting, and with great affection and fraternity, we hope to welcome the Master of the Order, Brother Francisco Gerard Timoner OP, all the capitulants and other friars who will collaborate in the Chapter. I am sure that the Holy Spirit will accompany them during all their work, and that each one of the Dominicans of Mexico will do their best so that our house in Tultenango will also be their house.

¡Bienvenidos a su casa….!
