On 4 June 2021, the capitular friars of the Provincial Chapter of the Province of St. James of Mexico elected Brother Luis Javier Rubio Guerrero, OP as their Prior Provincial. The Master of the Order, Brother Gerard Francisco Timoner III, OP confirmed his election, and Br. Luis Javier accepted it and made the Profession of Faith.

He professed his first vows in 1991 and was ordained priest in 1999. He has a degree in business administration from the Autonomous University of San Luis, Potosi, and a Master’s degree in Latin American Realities with the theme of “Globalization” from the Pedro de Córdoba Institute.
