New Provincial Prior of the Province of Our Lady of the Rosary

Fr. Mariano González Martín, OP, has been elected Provincial Prior of the Province of Our Lady of the Rosary of the Order of Preachers (Dominicans).

On August 21, 2025, during the Elective Chapter of the Province of Our Lady of the Rosary, held at the Royal Monastery of Santo Tomás in Ávila, Spain, Fr. Mariano González Martín, OP, was elected Provincial Prior. On the same day, he was confirmed by the Master of the Order, Fr. Gerard Francisco Timoner III, OP, with the signature of his Vicar, Fr. Pablo Carlos Sicouly, OP, and on that very day he accepted the office.

Fr. Mariano is Spanish, born in Parada de Rubiales (Salamanca) on April 30, 1967. At the age of 11, he entered the school of Nuestra Señora del Rosario (Arcas Reales) in Valladolid. In 1984, he received the Dominican habit and entered the novitiate of the convent of Santo Domingo in Ocaña (Toledo, Spain). He made his first religious profession on September 1, 1985, and in 1989 he made his solemn vows. As a professed student friar, he began his studies in philosophy at the studium of the Convent of San Pedro Mártir in Madrid. He obtained a bachelor’s degree in philosophy and began theology studies, which he completed in 1989. He then went on to complete his theology studies at the Angelicum University in Rome. Returning to Spain, he was ordained a priest at the convent of San Pedro Mártir in Madrid on July 4, 1992. Fr. Mariano earned a Licentiate in Canon Law at The Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C., United States (1992–1994).

We ask our Lord Jesus Christ to continue blessing Fr. Mariano in his service as Provincial Prior.
