From 21 to 27 August 2024, Brother Cristobal Torres, OP, Promoter General for the Dominican Laity, visited the fraternities and the Dominican Youth Movement (MJD) of the Vice-Province of Bolivia.
The Promoter General for the Laity visited the fraternities of Cochabamba on August 21, the Church of Santo Domingo in Potosi on August 22 and 23; and the fraternities and the MJD of the Parish and Convent of Santo Domingo in Santa Cruz de la Sierra August 24 to 27. Br Cristobal also preached at the Sunday Mass at La Mansion in Santa Cruz de la Sierra on 25 August.
Of special note was the meeting the promoter held with the branches of the Dominican Family in the Convent and Parish of Santo Domingo in Potosi. The exemplary collaboration between the dynamic Lay Fraternities and the MJD of the parish together with the friars and catechists of the parish has led to impressive pastoral initiatives, such as a kindergarten programme for pre-school children. The communal spirit and strong Dominican identity are evident and of great benefit to the local community. Potosi is a role model for fostering collaboration between local branches of the Dominican Family anywhere in the world.
