From August 10 to 18, 2024, Brother Cristobal Torres, OP, Promoter General for the Dominican Laity, visited the fraternities of the Province of St. Albert the Great in the United States, accompanied by Brother John Steilberg, OP, Provincial Promoter of the Laity.
On August 10, Br John and Br Cristobal visited the Fraternity of Our Lady of the Rosary at St. Dominic’s Convent in St. Louis, Missouri, where the Studentate of the Province of St. Albert the Great and the Province of St. Martin de Porres is located. On August 17, they visited the members of the Lay Provincial Council and several of the Fraternities of the Province at St. Francis Retreat Centre in Dewitt, Illinois. On the same day, the two promoters visited the Lay Fraternity of the University of Notre Dame, composed of members of the faculty and staff of the university, in Notre Dame, Indiana. On August 18, they concluded their visit with a meeting with two fraternities: that of Fenwick High School, a school administered by the friars of the province, and the Fraternity of St. Vincent Ferrer Parish in Chicago.
It is noteworthy that, both in this province and in others visited by the Promoter General in recent months, the number of members of established fraternities is growing and new fraternities are being established in many places.
