Saint Bartholomew of Martyrs O.P. (1514-1590): The Holy bishop of the Council of Trento
On July 5th, 2019, the Holy Father Francis received Cardinal Angelo Becciu, Prefect of the Congregation for the Causes of Saints, in audience. During the audience, the Supreme Pontiff approved the favorable vows of the most eminent and excellent members of the Congregation and extended the liturgical worship in honour of Blessed Bartolomeo dei Martiri (until the century: Bartolomeo Fernandes) to the Universal Church, of the Order of Friars Preachers. He was born in Lisbon (Portugal) on May 3rd, 1514 and died in Viana do Castelo (Portugal) on July 16th, 1590, inscribing him in the catalogue of saints (equivalent canonization ).
