On 12 July 2025, three diocesan priests were received into the Priestly Fraternities of St. Dominic in the Province of St. Augustine in Argentina and Chile: Fr. Darío de Fina of the Diocese of Gregorio de Laferrere, Fr. Claudio Cabrera of the Diocese of San Martín, and Fr. Miguel Angel Quintana from the Diocese of Gregorio de Laferrere.
The rite was celebrated within the conventual mass with morning prayers at the Nuestra Señora del Rosario Basilica in Buenos Aires, Argentina. With the Prior Provincial, Brother Juan Jose Baldini, OP, as main celebrant and presider of the rite of admission, the eucharist was participated in by the friars of the Convent of San Pedro Telmo and some members of the Dominican Laity.
For the past years, the priests have been regularly in touch with Brother John Emery, OP, who has been guiding them in their discernment to join the Dominican Family. Eight years ago, Br. John was also instrumental in the foundation of the first priestly fraternity in the former Province of Switzerland in Fribourg. With the admission of the three priests, the province is now on its way to establishing the third organized chapter in the Latin American region following Colombia and Brazil.
