On June 20 – 26, the Lay Fraternities of the island of La Réunion held a series of gatherings throughout La Réunion. Locations included the Dominican Monastery of Marie Immaculée and the La Salle Center, both in Saint-Denis; Saint-Dominique Parish in L’Étang-Salé; and Notre Dame du Mont Carmel Church in Saint-Pierre. Participants included fraternity President Ms. Monique Lawip, OP; fr. Paul Stevenson, OP; the Dominican Nuns of Marie Immaculée; and the keynote speaker and General Promoter for the Laity, fr. Cristóbal Torres Iglesias, OP. Fr. Cristóbal delivered a presentation on the history of Sequential Art as a medium for theology and preaching. The highpoint of the gatherings was a special Mass at St. Dominic Parish in L’Étang-Salé, presided by the General Promoter for the Laity, at which 3 lay Dominicans made final profession. Dominican Laity representing 5 fraternities from throughout La Réunion participated.
