On Sept. 4, the Master of the Order appointed Fr. Patrick Mary Briscoe, OP, as General Promoter of Social Communication.
Fr. Patrick is a friar of the Province of St. Joseph (United States). He entered the Order of Preachers in 2010 and was ordained to the priesthood in 2016. In his years of ministry, he has served in campus ministry, parish life, and in various media apostolates.
He is currently a contributor to the podcast Godsplaining and recently concluded his service as editor of Our Sunday Visitor, a widely read Catholic publication in the United States. Fr. Patrick has written extensively for Catholic publications and co-authored the book Saint Dominic’s Way of Life: A Path to Knowing and Loving God (OSV, 2021), as well as the forthcoming Lenten devotional Witness (Ave Maria Press, 2026). He is a member of the Catholic Media Association.
As General Promoter of Social Communication, Fr. Patrick will reside at Santa Sabina and work closely with the Master and the General Curia. His mission will include supporting Dominican provinces, vice-provinces, and vicariates in their communication efforts, fostering collaboration throughout the Dominican Order, and helping shape a global strategy for preaching through media across the four publics.
