The Dominican friars of the Province of St. John the Baptist of Peru re-elected Brother Rómulo Vásquez Gavidia, OP, as their Prior Provincial during the Provincial Chapter held at the Casa de Retiros Santa Rosa in Lima on 22 August 2022. Br. Romulo was confirmed by the Master of the Order, br. Gerard Francisco Timoner III, OP, on 22 August 2022 and accepted his second mandate the following day.
Br. Rómulo Vásquez Gavidia, OP made his first profession on March 10, 1996 in the Convent of St. Dominic in Cuzco. He studied philosophy and theology at the Instituto Superior de Estudios Teológicos San Juan XXIII (ISET).
He was ordained priest on 15 December 2002. He has been a formator in the Postulancy and Novitiate. He has carried out various ministries in the communities of Chiclayo, Trujillo, Lima and Cuzco. He was elected Prior Provincial at the Provincial Chapter of 2018.
