As we well know, Tultenango hosts the Definitory Capitulars in charge of defining the mission of the Order in the coming years. Today, especially, from lauds and the Eucharist, we prayed and congratulated the Province of Santiago de Mexico on the feast of its patron saint, Saint James the Apostle. On the occasion of this feast, Friar Luis Javier Rubio Guerrero, OP, Prior Provincial of the Province of Mexico, wrote a letter to congratulate the friars of that Province.

In the house of Bethany, the Lord Jesus experienced the family spirit and friendship of Martha, Mary and Lazarus. That is why the Gospel says that he loved them. Hope is grounded on a certainty that God will never abandon us

So if someone were to ask me if I am optimistic about our Order, my ready answer would be: “I am not at all optimistic, but I am very hopeful!” Hope is grounded on a certainty that God will never abandon us. This is what Paul tells the Colossians in the second reading this Sunday: “Christ in you, our hope of glory”.

The General Chapter began with the celebration of the Eucharist of welcome, presided over by Friar Luis Javier Rubio Guerrero, OP, Prior Provincial of the Province of Santiago de Mexico as well as concelebrated by Friar Juan Manuel Hernández, OP, Socius of the Master for Latin America and the Caribbean; and Friar José G. Garrido, OP, superior of Casas Santo Domingo, Tultenango, seat of the General Chapter of Diffinitors.

A Wonderous Hope amid a Polarized World

Polarization or division is a global phenomenon that we can observe throughout the world. It takes place in every aspect of human beings in these contrasting terms: conservative and liberal, theism and atheism, republican and democracy, religious and secular, holy and profane, etc…

The one who has begun this good work in me will follow it right to the end.

The prophet was a very uncomfortable person; he was uncomfortable to himself and uncomfortable to others. He was uncomfortable to himself because he was entrusted with the very WORD OF GOD, the Sacred WORD, and he was all too aware of his human frailty.
