The Maltese Dominicans gather to support the society of the Democratic Republic of Congo

On the Maltese Republic Day, the 13th of December, 2018 the Maltese Dominicans gathered in a candle light cloister of the Dominican Priory in Vittoriosa. The celebration started by hearing the national anthem of the Democratic Republic of Congo followed by a feature showing the situation that people of Congo are facing every day and their striving for peace.

There was also a minute of silence as a remembrance for all those who lost their lives during their fight for justice and peace in Congo. After everyone joined in a small procession in the cloister while praying the rosary for peace to reign in the society of Congo. A con-celebrated Mass followed in the Annunciation Church. The mass was celebrated by the provincial promoter of Justice and Peace Fr. Ivan Attard. At the beginning of mass we commemorated the beatification of Pierre Claverie who worked for justice and peace in Algeria.

The commission of justice and peace of the Maltese Dominican Province also prepared a set of prayers of the faithful for mass and other prayers for peace in Congo to be recited during lauds and vespers for the month for peace of our Order.
