On November 5, fr. Said Leon Amaya was elected as the new Prior Provincial of the Province of San Luis Bertran de Colombia. Fr. Said was born 43 years ago in the city of Ocaa (Colombia). He entered the Order of Preachers in 1994 and made his first profession in 1996. He was ordained a priest on 15 November 2003. He has a degree in philosophy from University Santa Tomas and a License in Theology from the Pontifical University Javeriana (Bogota).
At the time of his election he served as Prior of the Convent of the Holy Name of Jesus of Cali. He has been superior of the House San Jacinto de Polonia in Cucuta (Colombia), superior of the Convent Santo Domingo of Bogota, Moderator of Institutional Studies of the Province and Coordinator of the NGO Corporacin Dominicana OPcion Vida in Barranquilla. He has also been Provincial Promoter of the Rosary, of the Dominican Family and of the Nuns.
