Vocation promotion, initial and ongoing formation, study, commitment to justice and peace and forms of collaboration in mission were the main themes of the Assembly of the Major Superiors of the Interprovincial Conference of the Dominicans of Latin America and the Caribbean (CIDALC), which took place in the city of Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, from 10 to 15 March 2024.
Brother Juan Manuel Hernández, OP, Socius for Fraternal Life and Formation, participated as a guest to help deepen the participants’ understanding of the general chapters’ directives on formation in the Order. Brother Pablo Carlos Sicouly, OP, Socius for Intellectual Life, participated via videoconference. Brother Pedro José Díaz Camacho, OP, from the Province of San Luis Bertrán in Colombia, presented a report on the themes of justice and peace throughout the history of CIDALC. Father Oswaldo Andrés Concepción, a Jesuit priest from the Dominican Republic, was invited to explain the socio-political situation.
Brother Fernando Delgado, OP, Socius for Latin America and the Caribbean, Brother Marcos Augusto Alexandre, OP, Secretary General, Brother Henrique-Cristiano Amaral Bhering de Lacerda, OP, Promoter of Formation and Intellectual Life, and Brother Miguel Ángel Espinoza, OP, Promoter of Justice and Peace also participated in the Assembly.
