On 30 January 2024, in EmaPhethelweni Priory in South Africa, the friars gathered in Chapter elected Brother Clement Mweni, OP, as Vice-Provincial of the Vice-Provincial of Southern Africa for the 2024-2028 term. On 27 January 2024, in the church of Sankt Andreas in Cologne, the Master of the Order, fr Gerard Francisco Timoner III, OP, proclaimed the erection of the new province of Saint Albert the Great in Germany and Austria. The proclamation took place in the presence of numerous German, Austrian, and Hungarian Dominican brothers, sisters, and lay Dominicans, along with representatives from the neighboring provinces of Belgium, France, Poland, Slovakia, and the Czech Republic.
The second meeting for founding a priestly fraternity occurred at Beaufort Monastery in Plerguer, France, from December 3 to 4, 2023. Discussions included the fraternity’s rule, collaboration with the monastery, and integration into the Dominican Family.
