XVIII Sunday in Ordinary Time
The first reading of the sage Qoheleth reveals a thought that is well rooted in our comfortable societies. It contains a truth; it is superlative vanity to pretend to hoard limitlessly. It makes no sense to do so, since our life is limited.

This Sunday, the capitulars changed their activity, a more recreational one to socialize with the Dominican Family in Querétaro. To get to Santiago de Querétaro, the friars traveled by bus for three hours. The city holds the title of the cleanest city in Mexico, and is located in the center of the country, with a population of more than one million inhabitants in addition to a beautiful historic center with colonial architecture, much of it well preserved since its original construction.

First Profession
We gather around the table of the Eucharist to give thanks to the Lord for the gift Dominican vocation, the same vocation received by our brothers who will make their simple profession today. We thank the Lord for their parents and family, their “first formators” and ” first formation community”, for the Church calls the family as “school of life and love”. We thank the Lord for the novice master and formation community in Agua Viva for their fraternal accompaniment.

In the afternoon, Friar David Martinez de Aguirre, OP, Bishop of Puerto Maldonado, presented the mission of the Order of Preachers in the Peruvian Amazon. Our brother began by raising a question that some friars may wonder why the Peruvian Amazon is the protagonist, and why are there not other places of mission? Indeed, the Order serves other mission lands in many corners of the world. However, the Amazon has a significant peculiarity: it is a mission entrusted to the Order by the universal Church.

In the house of Bethany, the Lord Jesus experienced the family spirit and friendship of Martha, Mary and Lazarus. That is why the Gospel says that he loved them. Martha generously offered him hospitality, Mary obediently listened to his words and Lazarus promptly rose from the tomb at the command of the One who defeated death.

The capitulars continue with the work in commissions.

After the Eucharist, the plenary session began with an explanation by Friar Benjamin Earl, OP, Procurator General of the Order, expert in Canon Law, on the terminology in the Book of Constitutions and Ordinations (LCO), admonitions, declarations or ordinations (LCO 417 § II,6): “Questions are to be resolved by the procedure of admonitions, declarations or ordinations, and if a new constitution is to be introduced it is to be done with express words”.

If we take into account the Greek interpretation of this excerpt, and I choose a possible interpretation of verse 16, the prophet asks that the “words of God” (plural) be fulfilled, that they be brought to perfection, that they find their unity and completion and become a “Word” (singular with a capital W).
